Shabby Chic or Redneck?

Posted on June 17, 2008February 24, 2017

I had to show you a photo of my new garden planter. (That’s my son sneaking into the photo.) I admit, it wasn’t an original idea. I saw this in someone else’s yard. And I have to thank my mother-in-law who gave me this antique washing machine that was her mother’s. Well, what do you think? Shabby Chic or Redneck? Or maybe it’s “green” since I’m re-purposing an old appliance that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Whatever it is, I think it’s cute.

Wasn’t it facing the road? It’s Iconic. You’re using a washing machine to represent how we need to wash the world by going green! You are amazing…and you’re mine!!!

i love it… I think it would only be redneck if the washing machine was just sitting there.
    Next to an old tractor.
    With a stack of tired…
    you get the picture.

Cute! Wow how my nephew has grown! What are you feeding him? He’s going to be as tall as me when I return!

I remember Grandma using this machine. I used to help her with the wash some of the days I would stay with her. I thought it was fun…because it was different and participatory! I’m sure I would have changed my mind quick if I had to use that every day.

good lord!!!!!! I LOVE IT. i think it is shabby redneck or redneck chic!!! i would probably stick a bunch of cute magnets on it and do a complete outdoor theme…old toaster, blender with a flower, maybe a sink with some plants….etc. it’s a great piece and your son is adorable!!! take care.
