Where have I been? Sick.
Just as I was starting to not feel so tired from being pregnant, I caught David’s cold. Then David’s cold turned into a double ear infection, and I was up with him for a night.
By Saturday I thought we were both feeling better. I actually ventured out of the house that night. In retrospect I should have stayed home, because I felt lousy again on Sunday and yesterday. Today I’m finally starting to feel “normal” again.
Well, normal for me anyway.
I might even make cookies tonight for the Cookie of the Week feature that I haven’t been keeping up with lately.
So, now it’s almost Hall-O-Ween.
David wanted to be a robot. I was going to make his costume. Then Sunday he saw a Fireman costume at the store, and the robot plans went out the window. Now he’s going to be , “a real fireman boy,” as he says.
We’re going to Trunk or Treat at our church Friday night. People in the church decorate their cars, dress up in costumes and hand out candy in the parking lot. There’s usually 150 cars or so, and they get pretty creative with the decorations. It beats going door to door to strangers’ houses, and makes quick work of filling up the candy bucket. Important since it’s always freezing cold, and sometimes even snows on Hall-O-Ween here. Then we always make a stop at Grandma’s house.
So what are your kid’s dressing up as? What are your Hall-O-Ween plans?
Matt, my mom, Noah, Dylan and I are going to Mickey’s Not So Scarey Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. We have gone before but never dressed up before. This year, we are all going as pirates (per Dylan’s request), even Grandma is dressing up. My mom and I have been working on costume alterations for the last month. I’ll send you a pik.
Sorry to hear you have been so sick and CONGRATULATIONS on the baby. So happy for you!
Hope you all are soon feeling better! My boys (7 years old) are dressing up as the Incredible Hulk and a Ninja.
My daughter will be trick treating dressed as a Princess Vampire. NOT the pixie fairy I had in mind!
Feel better soon!
I’m glad you are feeling a little better. Hope y’all have a great trunk or treat. We had ours on Sunday nite and the kids had a blast. My oldest was Captain Rex from Star Wars The Clone Wars. My little one was a bumble bee. I was a hippie. If you have time come by my site and see the pics!
new to your blog, and very impressed!
sorry to hear you were sick, that is the last thing you want while pregnant, right?
and how cute is the idea of a real fireman boy?!
seriously.
too cute.
So glad you are finally feeling better! Being sick when you are pregnant and a mom already is the pits!
Halloween is by far my least favorite “holiday”, but it doesn’t seem so bad this year. I will have a 7 year old spider princess (that I found at the thrift store for $7.50) and a 9 year old colonial lady (on sale for $12.00 at Jo-Ann’s). This is the first year that I’ve had the costumes ready two weeks before Halloween with practically no angst.
I usually make costumes, but I hate doing it and it totally stresses me out because I don’t enjoy sewing. But $20 seems like an ok amount to spend, especially when the 9 year old costume can be re-used with the 7 year old in a few years.
I bought the candy today ($17.00 on sale – we get about 200 kids coming around our neighborhood!) and even bought supplies to make my husband’s favorite candied apples, as this is the first year his grandma is too infirm to do it. Pumpkins got carved last night, so basically, we are ready for Friday!
