That’s Not Wealth They’re Spreading Around

Posted on October 16, 2008November 16, 2010

I tried to keep my mouth shut.

I can’t take it anymore!

Joe The Plumber pays more taxes.

Joe The Plumber has less discretionary income to spend.

So Joe The Plumber doesn’t buy a new car.

The car manufactures have less business, so they make less cars.

That means the car manufacturers order less parts from my husband’s employer.

My husband’s employer loses money.

My husband loses his job.

Then we have no money to spend.

All the companies who benefited from our spending earn less.

Then more people lose their jobs.

What don’t you get about this people?!!!

Trickle down economics?

Oh, yeah!

It really does run down hill.

Just ask Joe the Plumber.

He knows a lot about “it.”

I have to agree. I really wish they went to the flat tax. I see no reason that government deserves a larger % of anybodies money than the Bible says I should give to God…

Look at it from their side…

    1. Take money from “Rich” plumber.
    2. Give $$$ to poor guy.
    3. $$$ goes for HDTV and Wii instead of tuition or job training.
    4. Everything stays as it was except “Rich” plumber loses $$$ and poor guys gets a TV and Wii.

Short sighted people will always vote to give themselves $$$. Promise them immediate $$$ and get their vote. The process is simple. What is lost is that the Plumber will just end up charging more for his services to make up the difference in taxes and the people using his services (you and me) end up losing in the end.

Maybe it’s not because Joe is paying more taxes that he has less money to spend. Maybe it’s because his child is sick and he has no health care. Maybe it’s because he is saving up for his kid to go to college, because there aren’t enough scholarships to go around.

Also, unless Joe the Plumber is raking in $200,000 a year, he won’t be paying more taxes. Have any of you read a newspaper in the past six months? Or do you just listen to Fox News “Tell it like it is?”

Joe the Plumber starts a plumbing business.

He has a hard time attracting qualified employees because the decline in his local school system has led to a high dropout rate and the graduation of a large percentage of people who are too functionally illiterate to read simple directions.

He can’t afford to provide health benefits for the two decent trainees he manages to get, or even his own family, because McCain’s health care plan is a joke.

When his employees (or their family members) get sick or injured, they delay getting treatment until they have to go to the emergency room, leading to a lot more missed work days. This is because the bullcrap high-deductible health insurance plan that was all they could afford with McCain’s tax credit discouraged them from going to the doctor when the problem was in the early stages.

One of his trainees quits because health care bills have driven them into bankruptcy and they have to go live with relatives in another state.

Joe ends up laying off the other one because so many of his customers are unable to pay their bills because they lost their jobs, despite McCain giving those generous tax cuts to the wealthy. Turns out those wealthy people could hire cheaper workers overseas. Plus, who cares about the plumbing in your house when you’re being foreclosed on?

Joe makes far less than $250K in his first year in business, and is so in debt that he ends up closing shop and filing for bankruptcy.

Joe files his taxes and 2010 and realizes that he’s getting no tax cut at all under McCain’s tax plan because – surprise! – he’s not rich. He would have gotten a nice one under Obama’s. Also, he would have gotten a tax credit for hiring American workers.

All of this is lost on Joe because he listens to Rush Limbaugh and Faux news, who is blaming Joe’s woes on libruls, brown people, and the Democratic Congress.

Not every “poor” plumber who gets a cut in taxes will spend money on frivolous things. Maybe he will start that business, or help is daughter go to school or maybe help his wife go back to school and get a degree.
