Mush for Brains

Posted on October 13, 2008November 16, 2010

Ever have those mornings when you’re awake, but your brain is still off snoozing in la-la land?

I got up this morning, and fired up the coffee maker as usual. In a rare moment of morning culinary ambition, I decided to make scrambled eggs. As I was beating the eggs, I heard the coffee maker slurping in the background. Then my eyes fell on the coffee pot that was still sitting next to me on the counter.

It took me a minute to process what was about to happen as I starred at it and thought, “Hm-mm. That’s not right.”

Whoops!

I grabbed the pot, and shoved it under the basket. Our coffee maker has a feature that turns off the drip if the pot isn’t on the burner. I made it before the water started to gush out of the side of the basket. But as soon as the pot was in place, coffee came flowing out of the basket so fast it ran down the sides of the pot and went everywhere.

I got the mess cleaned up, and David and I hurried to get ready to go to Women’s Bible Study at church. We ran out the door. Halfway there in the car I realized I forgot to put deodorant on. I kept my arms down as close to my sides as I could all morning. I hope I didn’t smell.

After Bible Study I took my stinky pits and David to Walmart to buy some ribbon. We walked out with a pizza, Ziploc bags and a sucker.

What was missing?

The ribbon!

Good Grief.

I’m not sure I should have even been operating a motor vehicle this morning.

I have to go find my head now.

It came unscrewed, and I don’t know where I put it.

Yeah. Luckily, I don’t drive, so it’s just at the house. 🙂

I TOTALLY do that. I thought I was losing my mind. Twice within the last six months I’ve walked out of the house with two different flip flops on. Oh, and I’ve left my dd’s shoes at home and didn’t realize it until I pulled into the pre-k parking lot.

Oh yes, a “mommy brain” day. I am way too familiar with THOSE kinds of days! (-:

You must have inherited the brain day from me. After school I went to the store to buy hot dogs for the church’s kid’s day. I got home from the store with thirty dollars worth of groceries, but no hot dogs. So I’m going to the store again tonight. Maybe I’ll bring home hot dogs this time.
