Tonight David washed his hair all by himself during bath time.
I was giddy with excitement. Proud that he learned to do it, and that he is becoming more independent. Also happy that I don’t have do it anymore, and will stay that much more dry during bath time.
Would anyone else besides Mom be so thrilled over such a seemingly small accomplishment?
When I praised David, and told him how proud I was a huge smile of satisfaction beamed across his face.
Of all the things we do as moms, being our children’s cheerleaders is one of our most important jobs. Washing your own hair or buttoning your own shirt won’t land you a segment on Ellen. But Mom is always there to to celebrate these little milestones. Every time we recognize our kid’s achievements, big and small, we instill them with confidence and self-esteem they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I want to say thanks to my Mom and all the other moms out there who know that some times the littlest things are the biggest things.
What seemingly little milestones did you celebrate as a mom? Or do you remember your mom making a big deal over something you achieved? Talk to me!
I’m so proud of my nephew! He’s growing up so fast. He looks so proud of himself in this photo, too. Such a great smile. He’s going to be such a great helper to you when the baby arrives. At his age, he will be able to do more and more.
I know my mom made a big deal of our achievements…big and small. At this early hour, I am not able to think of one specifically, though. Love you mom!
