I’m sitting in the living room with David watching ET.
I was the same age as Drew Barrymore when ET first hit theaters in 1982.
Now this movie from my childhood is a classic?
Oh, man.
I’m old.
David is fascinated with ET. He wants an ET of his own.
I was afraid the movie might scare him, but he’s fine with it.
ET is the first movie that’s not a cartoon that David has really shown any interest in. Of course he’s asking a thousand questions about why and what.
I have to admit ET holds up pretty good in the new millennium. When I watch other movies from the 80’s, like Star Wars, the special effects seem cheesy compared to what they can do today. But no so much with ET.
Uh-oh.
ET just died.
More questions.
Gotta go.
Now, you get to answer the questions. When he was at my house over spring break, we had to watch it two times in two days. It would have been more, but I used the excuse we had to return the movie to the library. If I had not taken it back to the library he wouldn’t have played outside or inside. He is so fascinated with ET. Times have certainly changed since the 80’s your Dad and I wouldn’t even let you watch ET until you were older. David has such a tender heart where ET is concerned. He is so concerned about why ET got sick?
Wow…I’m surprised he watched it at all. I remembber his Dad being too scared to watch it when he was David’s age. Has he watched it with his son, yet? I’m not sure he has seen it as an adult even.
I know you did not see the movie when you were 7
years old. We did not even allow you to date until
you were 10.
I haven’t seem E.T. in forever! Now, I know you’ll find this weird, but the first movie my oldest sat all the way through was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He was only 2!
I guess there’s something about aliens, spaceships and little boys.
