I have 18 unfinished post in my drafts folder. I was going to finish one of those tonight.
BUT…
I am sitting here ITCHING like crazy! I’m covered in hives. The back of my neck, my stomach, even the insides of my ears and the end of my noes itches. The weirdest thing is that the worst itch is on the bottoms of my feet and the palms of my hands.
It’s making me crazy!
I have no idea the cause. I took some medicine last night, but I’d taken it in the past without a problem. The only other thing I did out-of-the-ordinary was clean my oven.
Yes, I cleaned my oven.
Watch for flying pigs and an ice storm in hell next.
Maybe I’m allergic to oven cleaner.
I know I’m allergic to cleaning the oven.
Whatever the cause, it’s miserable to sit here and itch.
Have you ever had a nagging itch that just won’t go away? All over your body? It drives you to distraction. It’s all you can think about. You would do almost anything to stop it. But, whatever you do it just won’t stop. It’s completely beyond your control. It’s utter desperation.
It makes you want to SCREAM.
This must be what it’s like to be insane.
I think this could make me insane.
I walked to the mailbox this afternoon, and I fantasized about how good it would feel to scrape my skin across the pavement on the driveway.
That’s how bad it was.
I took an antihistamine, and slathered on hydrocortisone cream. It’s helped. A little.
So that’s why I’m not writing any of those other 18 posts. I can’t concentrate on anything, but how much I itch.
I felt pain after a surgery, two C-sections and a brief stint of labor. I’d take that any day over this incessant itching.
Oh. My. Word.
How many bottles of calamine lotion would it take to fill up the bath tub?
I’m gonna go find out.
So, how many?

I feel for you! We went on a cruise a few years ago, and I got some kind of allergic reaction to something in Jamaica and I itched like the dickens. There was nothing on the ship to help me! As soon as I got home I went to the E/R, because I was going insane too! They gave me a shot of something and it helped so much! I hope you get some kind of relief soon!
Try Aveeno Oatmeal Bath. I know it sounds gross, but it really does help. It’s usually next to the body wash and such. Benedryll will help with the itch more than anything, but it makes me so sleepy! If I can’t sleep, I take it. 🙂 Also, get naked. Or, as naked as you can get with a bunch of boys running around the house. Staying cool will help. Those are some of the things the dr had my folks do for me after the great penicillin reaction or the 80s. I might even blog about it now…you inspired me! :0 I hope you feel better soon.
Reading this made me want to scratch all over!!!
I hope you found some relief! 🙂
seriously…don’t you remember in college…a certain roommate that started getting hives out of the blue???? it was AWFUL!!!!!! i feel for you so much. i finally figured out that it was motrin…i can’t take anything EXCEPT tylenol…well i haven’t for years and would be too scared to try again. they are torture!!!! i do remember my palms and foot bottoms itching like crazy too. in fact they still do if i get really hot or cold. the only thing that worked the best was claritin. i had to get it prescribed but now you can buy it over the counter! it is expensive i think, but it is worth every penny. i bet it was the oven cleaner. i hope it’s nothing else. it could be the med too. i had always taken advil with no problems until college, but didn’t figure that out until we had been married a couple of years!
I do remember you getting those hives. It is miserable. I did take Claritin, because we keep it in the house for Dave’s allergies in the spring. It’s almost gone now, but my hands still itch and I have few spots other places. I guess Dave has to buy me a self-cleaning oven now.
Just quit cooking. David loves McD’s because they have a
playland. And they have Wi Fi. And how could they ever mess up a frappe’?
My feet are itching right now! I went camping this weekend and have a ton of bugbites. Grrrrr.
