How Will They Ever Survive?

Posted on May 21, 2010

Well, I’m off tomorrow morning for Gleek Retreat.

I’ll be gone all day Saturday, overnight, and part of the day Sunday.

It will be the longest break I’ve had from the kids since Wade was born. I’m not ashamed to admit I’m looking forward to the 30 hour break from child care and housework.

This will be the first time I leave Wade overnight. I’ve left David overnight before when Dave and I went out of town together. But the last time I was gone overnight by myself was before David was born. This will be Dave’s first time alone overnight with the boys.

So we’ll see how THAT goes.

Oh, it’s not that Dave isn’t capable. He’s a good dad. I know he’ll feed them, dress them, and no one will get injured.

Well, I’m actually not so sure about that last one.

It’s just that Dad does things differently than Mommie.

I have questions like:

What will they eat?

What will the house look like when I get back?

Will there still be a house when I get back?

I have a picture in my mind of something like a fraternity party going on while I’m gone. Only with milk and sippy cups instead of beer and kegs.

It should be an interesting weekend for all us.

Hey, I offered to help with the boys this weekend. Joe insisted he’s got it. So, ya know. My offer is still good…I mean, I can at least bring meals or something…do dishes?

i have to admit that sometimes the thought of what the house will look like after i’ve been gone for just a few hours while daddy is home alone with the girls, makes me RETHINK going out alone (and i can count on one hand how often that has happened since Pumpkin’s arrival). i just have to remind myself that the destruction i find upon returning is a sign of the great fun they’ve had….yeah…that’s it. 😉
