I Always Knew I Was Really Scandinavian

Posted on May 7, 2010

I have lots of random stuff to say, and none of it really deserves it’s own post. Even if it does, I’m too lazy tonight. So here’s a list of things you probably don’t care about, but I’m going to tell you anyway.

1. Chuck E. Cheese’s is doing a Mother’s Day promotion.

Seriously?

That’s about the last place on earth I want to go. Please do not give me anything that has to do with the Fifth Circle of Hell on Mother’s Day.

2. For my 35th birthday I dragged my husband to an Indian restaurant. The poor man. You should have seen him gingerly picking at his lunch. I think he even turned a little green.

After that we went to a cafe downtown for coffee. He got rained on, and there was too much coffee and not enough sugar in his mocha.

Then we went to the mall. He waited patiently while I shopped for sofa pillows.

He endured all of this because he loves me.

3. My Gmail account got hacked by someone from China last  Sunday morning. So, no, I did not send you that spam about a million dollars in a bank in Hong Kong. But if you still want to give me your bank account number, I’m OK with that.

Gmail is so helpful. They notified me three days later that it happened. Fortunately I’d already figured it out, and fixed the problem.

How did my account get hacked in the first place?

Gmail didn’t even say they were sorry.

4. I shopped at Ikea for the first time ever last Sunday. We drove two and a half hours just to get there. The closest one is in Detroit. I must be Swedish at heart, (Hey, I do have the blond hair. If only I had Swedish hips.) because I am a total convert. I will never buy another stick of furniture anywhere else.

We bought a new couch, and schlepped it home in the back of the mini-van. I’m sitting on it now. It’s so comfy. And stylish. And affordable. And good quality. No, this is not a sponsored post, but it could be. Want to work with me Ikea? I’ll blog for free furniture.

I think a yearly trip to the Swedish Mother-Store will definitely become a tradition.

5.I’m preparing for Wade’s first birthday on Sunday.

6. Something in my house smells, and I can’t figure out what it is. I have to find it before Wade’s first birthday. At least I know it’s not the new couch.

7. Next week we go on vacation to my favorite city– Chi-town, The Windy City, The Second City — Chicago, baby! Beautiful, sophisticated, mid-western and blue-collar all at once. It beats out all the other big cities I’ve visited — even New York, and tropical Honolulu. This will be David’s first time there, and I can’t wait to show him around.

So, what’s new with you?

Hee hee I love it! This is the kind of post I do. My thoughts always tend to be random! I’m thinking Chuck E Cheese on a Mother’s Day might be a good idea, and here’s why. Every where will be packed, most Mom’s will feel like you do, so it probably won’t be too busy, then you can let the kids run wild!

You’ve never been to Ikea??? We try to not go to often, b/c we go in just to walk around or have their cheap breakfast, and next thing we know we have spent $200 on things we have been wanting for a while, but nothing we needed to get that day. Our coffee table we bought there, about 5 years ago, and it cost $80. We have gotten tons of compliments on it, over the years, but now with 3 boys, it is a bit ratty. I don’t care if they do too much to it b/c we have gotten our money’s worth from it.

What a good hubby putting up with all of that for your birthday. Better make sure his is extra special.

Yuck! I hate when there is a funky smell somewhere and you have to go around looking for it.

    Have fun in Chi-town!

Well, the new van really isn’t anything spectacular. It’s new to us, but not really new. It’s almost as old as the car we replaced with it. It’s just bigger. In fact one of the reasons we got it at a good price was because the backseats were covered in “kid goo”. We did get it clean after a lot of scrubbing.

Wow, you live even further from Ikea than me! I still haven’t made it there, but I hear it’s awesome! I can’t believe Wade is almost a year old!

Did you see the awesome cute and cheap wooden toys when you were at Ikea? Were you able to keep your whereabouts the whole time or did you get lost? The first time we went, my husband and I got lost, walked into the cafeteria, took it as a sign, and resigned to finding ourselves later as we ate french fries.

My son will be 1 next month. I cannot believe how fast time has flown by! Happy birthday to your bubby!

Don’t you hate mysterious smells? There has been many a time I’ve been reduced to sniffing on my hands and knees around my home. If you can’t find it before the party, you can always use glade plugins all over the place.

Yes, we did get lost in Ikea. We had to ask for directions a couple times. And it was so, so busy that day. The store was packed.
