One of Those Days

Posted on May 20, 2010

It was just one of those days.

You know. One of those days when the baby wakes up at 4:30 a.m., and stays awake because he’s teething.

One of those days when your kind husband knows you’re tired, so he lets you sleep in, but you don’t really sleep because the five year old is racing up and down the hall all morning.

One of those days when after you drag yourself out of bed you have a headache. That lasts all day. Despite the all the Ibuprofen that you took.

One of those days when the coffee pot malfunctions, and the coffee that you so desperately need flows over the pot and onto the counter instead of into the pot.

One of those days when your five year old spills a glass of milk into the bag of dog food in the kitchen, then you move the bag to try and clean up the mess, and the bag rips and dog food spills everywhere.

One of those days when you spray sunscreen on your one year old for the first time this season, and half an hour later he’s covered in red splotches, and one side of his face is swollen from an apparent allergic reaction.

One of those days when you come in the house to wash the sunscreen off the baby in the bathtub, and discover that the dogs got into the trash and made a mess.

One of those days when the dogs throw up the trash that they ate all over the kitchen floor.

One of those days when you never get around to making dinner, so you order pizza and it arrives burned.

One of those days when you thought you’d get the house all cleaned up before going away for the weekend, but you didn’t get a single thing done except taking care of all the unplanned disasters.

One of those days when all you can do is write in run-on sentences.

One of the days that you’re glad is over.

Good night.

i’m so sorry friend. you deserve a big starbucks!

i hope that your weekend away is refreshing and relaxing (even if you are a keynote speaker!). you are going to be great and i really wish i could escape and come hear you. i will be praying for you! btw….i get so upset sometimes b/c my hubby never lets me sleep in but then i realize that even if he magically one day did, i probably wouldn’t be able to sleep anyways since i wake to every kid noise. ha! oh well it would still be nice to try. heehee.

    have a great weekend!

those sort of days are rough. but hopefully….you only had ONE of those days. it’s really hard to bounce back from TWO or more of “those” days!

hope your weekend makes up for “that” day!

I had one of those days the other night, and I was so glad when I was going to bed. I was afraid the next day would be bad too, but it wasn’t – the next day was great, no disasters, and my child was in a good mood. Thank goodness! Hopefully, things are better for you too.
