Cupcakes and Cowboys

Posted on June 30, 2010January 2, 2011

Well, it’s another one of those weeks where I’ve been outside all day with the boys. We’re having some amazing weather here. It’s sunny, and only in the mid-70’s. That’s a little cool for this time of year, but it makes for some great days outdoors.

I did manage to find some time to bake cupcakes, since David requested them.

Wade really liked the cupcakes too.

I wanted to make pink frosting, but David insisted on yellow. Boys.

It took Wade a minute to figure out how to eat it. At first he just licked the frosting off his fingers.

But he got the hang of it eventually.

This kid is always a hot mess after he eats.

We did take some time out from playing in the sunshine to clean David’s room. It was bad. Really bad. Like, BP oil leak bad.

I removed massive amounts of toys he didn’t play with anymore, and in the process we found his cowboy hat. So since Monday afternoon he’s been dressed like a cowboy.

The first thing David did this morning, and the morning before was take off his PJs, and put on his cowboy gear. This is the kid who most days won’t get dressed without a lot of whining, and a turn or two in time out.

He’s even been to Walmart in his, “Cowboy Uniform” as he calls it.

You notice that he’s wearing snow boots. In June. He doesn’t have cowboys boots, so he pretends with his snow boots. We went around town today looking for some cowboy boots, and didn’t find any in his size.

David also wants spurs. Real spurs. I informed him that won’t be happening anytime soon.

A couple nights ago David wanted to know how cowboys dance. I’m not really sure why he was pondering that, but I found an instructional video for the Boot Scoot Boogie on YouTube for him. He did try to learn it, but he decided there were too many steps to remember. I wanted to get a video of that, but he wouldn’t cooperate.

Oh, and the really big news?

Wade is walking!

Video of that coming soon.

Love the cowboy gear!! He would fit right in down here in the South. We’ve got cowboys a plenty. 🙂
