We finally found time to take David to see Toy Story 3 today.
This was a much anticipated event in our family. I think Dave and I wanted to see the movie even more than David did.
First of all let me just say that it makes me feel really old that Andy is going off to college. I was a sophomore in college when the first Toy Story premiered. Has it really been that long? Yes. Yes it has.
Second of all, what is it with these kid’s movies that make you cry and leave you emotionally drained and with a throbbing headache from choking back the sobs?
Oh my word! I thought UP was bad when I cried through almost the entire thing. I still can not watch that movie without waterworks. If I put it on for David I have to avoid all eye contact with the TV to keep from losing it.
Don’t get me wrong. Toy Story 3 was warm, and funny and sweet just like 1 and 2. It’s not really sad. It has a happy ending. It’s just poignant, moving, and touching.
Do you remember what it was like to realize you were grown up? That you were leaving childhood behind forever?
Do you have children who will grow up, and strike out on their own someday?
Do you have children who did grow up, and strike out on their own?
Then you will weep, blubber, sniffle and put your sunglasses on before you leave the darkened theater to hide your red eyes and smeared mascara.
Bring Kleenex. Lots of Kleenex.
Sounds great, I sobbed through Up too. Well, I pretty much cry at all kids movies because they have heart and there is always “that moment” you know? My kids make fun of me or comfort me depending on their mood. 🙂
We watched it last night with some friends of ours and our children. I boo-hooed! The part when his Mom is reliving some of his childhood made me lose it! I have a 3 year old, and I was just shedding buckets of tears.
Great movie, but definitely a tear jerker at the end!
we took our kids to see that last night. i was crying like a baby b the end. thank goodness for those doofy 3d glasses so i could hide my sobfest eyeballs from the general public! it was a great movie though….my 2 year old never took his eyes off the screen (it was his first movie theater experience!) and my five year old was clapping and bouncing and enjoying every second of it (the fire scene scared them a little….but they were okay)
I was a sophomore in college when the first one came out too. I about died when I saw the previews and it said Andy’s off to college.
We haven’t seen this yet but I’m dying to. I’ve heard I should bring the kleenex.
I do have kids who are growing up and it scares me how fast it will come when they go off to college/leave home.
For some reason, it’s hitting me more and more at the fact that I’m indeed a grown up. Childhood is long gone…
I had better wait for the DVD then, I cry at everything!
