It’s that time of year again. Time for Festival de Stouts.
This is our official Festival family portrait. OK, it’s actually from Easter Sunday. Sorry. All that royal wedding stuff over the weekend kind of went to my head.
By the way when you say Festival de Stouts you say it with a French accent. Fe-stE-vol. Not that we’re French. But it doesn’t sound as sophisticated when you say it any other way.
What is Festival de Stouts you ask? It’s a ten-day celebration commencing with my birthday on May 5th. It includes Mother’s Day, Wade’s birthday on the 10th, and culminates with Dave’s birthday on the 14th. Poor David is the only one left out of Festival de Stouts with his birthday falling in the bleak, wintry month of January.
Surely you can see why this ten days of reverie gets its own name? That’s just too much celebration in too a short time to not give it an official title. The British Royal Family has world-televised weddings and Golden Jubilees. The Pope gets Beautified. We have Festival de Stouts. If I could I would make it a bank holiday for you all as the Queen did the day Wills and Kate tied the knot. Sadly I’m lacking in the power of an actual crown. Apparently a paper one from Burger Kings does not give you the right to issue such decrees and proclamations.
I do have three giveaways for you this week. Here’s the first. I’m giving away a Flip Mino digital video camera. 
I received the Flip Mino a few months ago as part of a project I worked on. I already had a Flip though, so I held on this to give away another day. That day is today in honor of Festival de Stouts.

May is a busy month for our family. Counting your family’s birthdays and Mother’s Day, add my husband’s birthday to the mix and it might as well be the Christmas season with all the gifts and brew-ha-ha. Yes, David is left out of the May hubbaloo, but not to worry. He’s in a good crowd, and another party season. January welcomes in the New Year, follows on the heels of Feliz Navidad, and is brimming with more family birthdays: his grandmother and both aunts. We welcome him to this most prestigious month of celebrating births.
Oh, and yes, I would like to win the flip. 🙂
