While David was at Grandma’s house, Dave, Wade and I headed down to St. Joseph, Michigan for the day last Friday.
Lake Michigan’s coast is lined with some of the best beaches in the country. St. Joe’s Silver Beach is one of those.
We hit the beach first.
But this time of year Lake Michigan is still cold. Too cold for Wade. Too cold for me.
So instead we headed for the splash pad that’s behind the beach to cool off.
It was awesome.
Wade was a little apprehensive at first. Then he really got into it.
After the splash pad we went for a ride on the carousel next to the beach.
We finished off the afternoon in air conditioning at the Curious Kid’s Museum. It’s just a short walk from the beach. There’s a lot packed into this small children’s museum. Many of the activities were perfect for Wade’s age. I thought the apple orchard where you could “pick apples” was especially clever.
The childrens’ museum was worth the drive alone. The gorgeous beach is just an added bonus. St. Joe is a fantastic place to spend the day with your family. If you’re not into the beach or don’t have kids there’s great shopping and restaurants downtown also. While you’re there see if you can spot all the artistic animals on the sidewalks. The Barnyard at the Beach exhibit is on display through October 1st.
We’re Stay-Cationing in West Michigan all summer. Hey, West Michigan is a great place to visit. When it’s not snowing. Come back and see where we go next week!
