Because Sometimes You Just Feel Like Writing A Haiku

Posted on August 15, 2011

August

Chill in morning air.

Warning of the summer’s end,

Crickets chirp all day.

Tired of pontificating in 140 characters on Twitter? Try a haiku. It’s a great writing exercise. Five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, five in the last. Usually they’re about observances in nature, but if you want to write about, like, say your love of bacon? Why not? How much can you say in 17 syllables?

Pork

Sizzle. Crackle. Pop! Grease drips.

What is better than bacon?

Start the morning right.

That’s awesome! I might write a couple today. It’s definitely a poetry type day. Yay!

Now I want bacon, and I’m seriously considering pulling a package from the freezer or going to IHOP. Whichever is quicker.

Oh I love a good haiku! (and I love bacon!) I used to write them all the time in high school! I’m totally going to steal this idea and use it on my blog. 🙂
