Let’s play a game. Take a look at these three pictures. In each picture something is unusual. Can you guess what it is?
If you guessed that the weather is the unusual thing in all the pictures, you win!
We are playing outside in the water and the sandbox and the plum tree is in bloom on March 20th in Michigan thanks to an epic heat wave bringing us 86 degree temperatures that are 40 degrees above our normal high! It’s the first day of spring, but the warm temperatures started a week ago when it was still winter. This time most years we still have snow on the ground. That plum tree? It shouldn’t bloom for another six weeks!
This weather is fantastic! I love saying goodbye to the cold early. It’s a little bizarre though. There aren’t any leaves on the trees yet, but it feels like July! I keep having to remind myself that it’s still March.
The boys are loving the weather too. I bought that little inflatable water play table for Wade today. It just doesn’t seem right to pull out the wading pool in March. It was hot though, so the water table is my compromise. David still has to go to school even though the sunshine and blue sky makes it seem like it’s summer break. I think we need a law in Michigan that says when we hit 80 degrees in March in Michigan it’s an automatic day off school.
This is historic! It’s a once in a lifetime event. People will talk about March of 2012 like they talk about the blizzard of ’78. There’s only one downside to this fantastic weather. Every March after this for the rest of our lives will totally stink!
So very true! I was born after the winter of 78, but I hear about it. That and the floods of 86. Now we have the heat of 12 to go on about to our grandkids some day.
I love that the automatic day off law! We’ve had crazy weather in Iowa too. Crazy – but wonderful!
At least you had a winter, though. We skipped winter and went straight to summer. I can’t believe it’s that hot up there too! Crazy!
Lets skip spring. I say we do it. And I like the “Friends” reference in your blog title.
I loved the weather last week! the kids did too. This week… it’s freezing! I think that in a short amount of time we got used to the warm weather!
