Thank you.
Thank you for giving me a summer free from Spongebob. You can’t imagine how much I don’t miss that annoying yellow square. Or Dora telling Swiper to stop swiping. Or the anatomically incorrect male cows on Back at the Barnyard who have udders.
Really Nickelodeon? My three-year-old knows male cows don’t have udders. Maybe your cartoonists need an anatomy lesson? Or an agriculture class? I hear Purdue University has a few good ones.
While we’re on the topic, here are a few other lessons you might need.
1. Economics – Did you really think people would side with you trying to force Direct TV to charge their customers more?
2. Social Media – Thanks to social media anyone with a Facebook account can tell you and anyone else who can read that they don’t want you to make Direct TV raise their rates. Direct TV can tell everyone how they are trying to protect their customers from cost increases, and how they’re trying to continue to provide value to their customers by adding Disney Jr. to their line-up. Meanwhile, Viacom, you just whine about needing more money. (Refer back to number 1.)
3. Timing – Summer wasn’t a good time to wage this war when thousands of kids are sitting at home complaining to their parents that, “There’s nothing on TV!” thanks to you, Viacom.
Personally, I don’t care if you ever settle your dispute with Direct TV. Our house is just fine without Nickelodeon. In fact, I kind of prefer it. Good riddance to The Sponge!
So keep it up Viacom. Keep doing exactly what you are.
Love,
Me
AMEN!! No more “but Mom I love Sponge Bob!”. He wasn’t allowed in our house.
LOL!! I’ve heard that Sponge Bob actually makes you dumb…. So Viacom is helping increase our kids intelligence! So thank you Viacom for that!
If you’re in a pinch, the library has several SpongeBob dvd’s from which your boys can choose ;D . I must admit that I love the Sponge!! It took a while, but I find him endearing, earnest and innocently funny. We don’t have cable or a dish, so no tv for us (I forbid it. Too much trash masquerading as children’s/tween programming), but I agree w/ you: stupid move, Viacom…
When Spongebob is on, it does feel like brain cells are flying out the window. I, for one, am glad its not available on Nickelodeon for now. We actually made the decision this week to hand in our cable box and rely solely on NetFlix for T.V. entertainment. They have a ton of great shows with ZERO mind numbing commercials. 🙂
It is still on our cable here. I can record it and send all of the
ones you miss.
