These mason jar to-go lids are the coolest things ever! OK. Maybe not EVER, but in the top 20.
We have tons of Ball jars at our house. Sometimes we use them as drinking glasses, because we are totally classy like that. But they’re not really designed for sipping. It wasn’t ideal, but now we just pop this lid on, stick a straw it and boom! We’re drinking from our mason jars like high-rollin’ hillbillies.
These lids really cut down on the kids wasting milk. It irritated me to no end when I poured them a glass, and they only finished half of it. If I put the uncovered cup in the fridge it ended up getting spilled. Now I just switch out the lid with the grommet for a regular mason jar lid. No spills, and it stays fresh since it’s covered.
I was a little worried about the boys using glass jars. Ball jars are pretty tough though. Wade dropped one outside on the cement, and it didn’t even crack. Not that I recommend testing that theory.
Besides convenient, Mason jars are cute. The lid and colorful straw really class them up, and they’re especially perfect for summer and fall. Donuts with apple cider in a Ball jar anyone?
I found my mason jar to-go lids through GroopDealz which is like a Groupon for really cool Handmade and Artsy stuff. (GroopDealz is awesome. I highly recommend checking them out.) But the deal is over, so here’s another place I found them for sale:
If you’re ambitious and not lazy like me, you can also make your own. I found a tutorial at A Farm Wife’s Life.
Cheers!
Those would be awesome for my Mom and Dad, I remember forever bringing them iced lemonade in Kerr jars when we’re out working in the garden or the lawn!
