It’s hot and humid outside at my place today, but fall is just around the corner. It’s already chilly in the mornings, and we need jackets if we go out early. Cargo, Utility, Military — what ever you call them, canvas jackets covered with lots of pockets, zippers, pulls and other hardware are hot right now. They’re also the perfect thing for making the transition from summer to fall.
Scarves are back from last year, and now they’re covered in prints and patterns. I resisted the scarf trend for a long time, because they make me feel like I have a boa constrictor wrapped around my neck. Also I think they make my chin look fat. But I’m trying to get over my phobia.
This scarf is from Walmart like the necklace a couple weeks ago. You can actually find really cute, inexpensive accessories at Walmart. And I think inexpensive is great, especially when you’re talking about something trendy that might not be in again next season.
Ankle pants are holding over from spring. Also another great piece when the weather is transitioning from warm to cool. I love the throwback to the cropped pants women wore in the late 50s and 6os. The Forever 21 Set is wearing skin-tight denim ankle pants with zippers at the bottom. I gave up the right to include myself in that demographic a few years ago. I think the chino version is better suited for my I-remember-when-they-still-played-music-on-MTV age category.
The classic loafer never goes out of style, but turning it into a wedge updates it a little. I also think wedges go great with ankle pants.

I love that scarf! I have not yet made the jump to scarves. I just think I’ll get way overheated, but you make it look so cute. And the sort of coral/salmon color of the jacket is beautiful. I enjoy these posts. They give me ideas 🙂
