Stay-at-home Mom Problems: Sick Day

Posted on October 1, 2013February 25, 2017

Stay-at-home Mom ProblemsYou have a headache, and they’re running through the house yelling and banging light sabers. You want to rest, but you have to make mac & cheese for them instead.

You try to explain to them that Mommy doesn’t feel good, and ask them to just sit and quietly watch a movie with you. But these children who you’ve sat up rocking through ear infections and fevers many nights have zero sympathy for you. Their eyes glaze over, and they ask you for a snack.

And if you and the kids have the stomach flu at the same time, well, you still get to clean up all the puke.

Somebody file a complaint with the HR Department. Oh, wait. You are the HR Department.

It is SO hard when it’s mom who is sick! My boys don’t think that anything changes if I’m sick. Dad, they let him sleep and leave him alone- me? Nope.

    Hope you feel better soon!

That is the WORST! Those are the days when you don’t want to be the HR department. I feel for you! One time we all came down with the stomach flu and everyone was throwing up and my poor husband has to be cleanup duty even though he had it too. Looking at it just made me even worse.

I often regale 7yo Brady with the time he was 1 and got the flu and then I got the flu after cleaning up the puke from his car seat. And how for 3 days I laid on the couch and taught him to bring me books to read to him and that’s how we broke him of the bottle and went to sippie cups because Mom was WAY too sick to clean any bottles. He loves that story, LOL. Ugh. The hardest is when they’re sick and you’re sick at the same time because there is NO REST for mom. Hope you’re feeling better!

Oh man, that’s rough. I remember when my husband was in Korea for a year and my kids and I got the stomach bug. We were throwing up everywhere. I didn’t have the strength to clean it so we smelled. Our house smelled. Then they recovered and I was still sick. And the house still smelled. It was awful.
