Christmas Eve Mice Cute, Easy Holiday Treat

Posted on December 16, 2013

No this isn’t a food blog, but it is that time of year when everything seems to revolve around food. So one more Christmas treat post, and then we’ll get back to regular programing. I don’t know what to call these Christmas Eve Mice. They’re not really cookies. They’re not really candy. But they are really cute! And easier to make than you might think.

Little ones love them and even adults Ooh and Ah over them. They look like you spent a lot of time in the kitchen, but they actually come together pretty quick.

A plate full of these cute little mice on Christmas Eve makes a fun treat. To put them together you just need a package of Oreos, Hershey Kisses, Chocolate Chips, jar of maraschino cherries and thinly sliced almonds. You’ll also need icing or gel icing that comes in a little tube. Like this:

To make it go quickly set up a little work area with all your items. Take the tops of the Oreos. Unwrap the Hershey kisses. Drain the cherries. When you have everything else ready melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.

Hold a cherry by the stem. Dip the cherry in the chocolate then stick the cherry to the flat side of the Hershey kiss. Place your mouse on an Oreo half. Put two almond slivers between the cherry and Hershey kiss to make the ears. Let it dry. Chocolate should set in about 10 minutes. Use the writing icing to make eyes, and you can also add a little spring of holly to the Oreo to make it more festive.
