In January one of my goals is always to get organized for the new year, so recently I was going through some old documents lying around the house. I was surprised how many of them contained information like social security and financial account numbers. It wouldn’t take more than five minutes for someone to go through and find enough information to steal to our identities.
We certainly don’t want those papers falling into the wrong hands. Some of them should be filed away in a secure location, but a lot of them need to go in the waste basket. It’s not a good idea to just put the papers in the trash though. Thieves could easily go through our garbage and steal our personal information.
The new year seems like a good time to resolve to keep our important personal information private. The best way to dispose of sensitive documents is to destroy them first. I could just tear the papers up or even take scissors to them, but that’s time-consuming and won’t adequately ruin the documents enough to foil a determined criminal.
That’s where the cross-cut blades on my Fellows P-12 C paper shredder come in. It cuts a single piece of paper into 309 pieces making it extremely difficult to reassemble. It can handle 12 pieces of paper at a time and even shreds credit cards. It also handles any paper clips and staples that might be on the paper.
I shredded several papers and also some empty checkbook folders. The P-12 C made quick work of it and had I problems with jamming.
One of the great features the P-12 has is the SafeSense® technology which automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening. I user the shredder at home where I have two mischievous boys, and I don’t have to worry about little fingers getting caught in there.
The P-12 is available from Walmart for just $99.97 which isn’t much to pay to protect your family from criminals who want to steal your identity.
