In this house our dogs really are a part of the family. They get lots of attention, sit on our couch and sleep in our beds. I even talk to them so much that my husband says he never knows if I’m speaking to him or the dog. Hey, they are very good listeners! (And I’m a little crazy.)
I try to feed my family a healthy, balanced diet, and I want my dogs to eat well too.
Purina Beyond Natural Pet Food makes that easy. It’s their newest line of pet food that just hit store shelves this summer. Made with natural ingredients, real meat is the main ingredient in Purina Beyond. Unlike some other pet foods there isn’t any corn, wheat, soy, poultry by-product meal, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives in Beyond pet food. Purina Beyond can be found in both wet and dry forms for dogs and cats.
I put Purina Beyond down for our dogs next to their regular food, and they both ate up the Beyond right away. So besides being healthy it must taste delicious too. I’ll take the dogs’ word for that. (I’m not that crazy.)
Purina Beyond is available at Meijer, and this week when you buy two bags of Beyond Dog or Cat food in any variety you instantly save $4.
Our pets aren’t the only ones who should have yummy, healthy meals. So Purina created a recipe for humans inspired by the super foods and natural ingredients in the Beyond pet foods.

2/3 cup barley flour
1 cup rolled oats
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp kosher salt
6 Tbsp cold butter
3/4 cup sweet potato puree
1/3 cup buttermilk
Roasted Garlic Rosemary Vinaigrette Ingredients
2 Tbsp roasted garlic
1 Tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
6 Tbsp white balsamic vinegar
1 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp kosher salt
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Salad Ingredients
Roasted white chicken
fresh spinach
carrots
tomatoes
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine flours, oats, sugar, soda and salt in a food processor. Cut the butter into cubes and add to processor. Pulse until the mixture looks like wet sand.
In a bowl, combine the sweet potato and buttermilk. Add the mixture to the processor and process just until the dough comes together.
Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart onto a baking sheet. If desired, brush the top of each biscuit with beat egg and sprinkle with extra rolled oats. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes until the biscuits are golden and have reached an internal temperature of 185 degrees.
Remove biscuits from oven and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Combine all ingredients for vinaigrette in food processor and process until smooth and emulsified.
Compose salad with roasted white chicken, fresh spinach, shredded carrots and tomato halves. Dress with roasted garlic rosemary vinaigrette and serve over or with sweet potato biscuits.
